PROJECTS
Cherish a Child Foundation has used this program to touch, transform, encourage and support street children to overcome mental health issues and the degrading conditions on the street. The main goal of this programme is to achieving mind transformation, assist participants to obtain a new sense of purpose and to reintegrate them back into society. The program is organised mainly for street children who need social, physical and support. We inspire, we empower, we teach, pray and also provide basic physical needs for these children on the street. Many of these children after the program receive new sense of purpose and assurance in life, some are reconciled with their families and others are given save homes to go back to school or learn a vocational training. Some of these little children taken off the street are already exhibiting their God-given talents and gifts at church, school and the communities they went back to. Specifically, we hope to achieve the below objectives with the program.
OBJECTIVES
- To transform the minds of street children to receive a new sense of purpose
- To instil into street children godly morals and encourage them to re-unite with their families.
- To identify and support street children who are engaged in destructive deviant behaviours such as smoking, prostitution, pilfering etc. to change such habits and adopt healthy ones.
- To support street children to identify a career and provide them support to pursue them.
Program Content
The transformation programmes are carried out in two different forms, a day outreach and camp. The camp program is a strategic program of mind transformation, as every transformation begins in the mind. (Rom 12:2). We achieve this through a well-structured psychological therapy and Inspirational activities put together by the inspiration from the word of God. At the end of our camps, we experience transformations in the street children physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually which position every participant for a better life.
We welcome social work and psychology students to take the practical opportunity the camp offers to apply the knowledge they have attained in their institutions as a form of internship.
