Transformation programme

This program running in some years has become a major life-transforming and reformation of dejected and marginalized children on the streets of Accra. Cherish a Child Foundation has used this program to touch, transform, encourage and support these street children. The program is organised mainly for street children who need social, physical and support. We inspire, we empower, we teach, pray and also provide basic physical needs for these children on the street. Many of these children after the program receive new sense of purpose and assurance in life, some are reconciled with their families, others are given Godly homes and few willing to learn a trade or go back to school are supported accordingly. Some of these little children taken off the street are already exhibiting their God-given talents and gifts at church, school and the communities they went back to.This year’s program is going to be bigger with greater purpose due to the massive support from other organizations and individuals like you.

GOAL

The main goal of the camp is to achieve mind transformation from drug abuse, sexual immorality, pilfering and all other deviant behaviours to a purpose-driven life.

DURATION

It is a one-week camp.

OBJECTIVES

The following objectives are to be achieved at the end of the program:

  1. Transforming the minds of street children to receive a new sense of purpose
  2. Instilling godly morals in the street children and reintegrating them into their family setting.
  3. To identify and support street children who are engaged in deviant behaviours such as drug abuse, prostitution, pilfering etc. to change such habits and adopt healthy ones.
  4. To help street children to identify a career path for sustainability and provide them support to pursue them.
  5. To raise technical and financial support for them to practice the career
  6. To participate in a give-back to community activity such as tree planting and communal cleaning.
  7. Educational tour to a correction centre closer to the camp area.

Program Content

  • The camp program is going to be a strategic program of mind transformation, as every transformation begins in the mind. (Romans 12:2, Hebrews 4:14)
  • We will achieve these through a multiphase approach of blending psychological, social and spiritual activities using experts in psychology, social work, medical field and ministers of the gospel. Our main medium of execution will be inspiration of God’s word.
  • At the end of the camp, we believe God will transform the street children physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually for a better life for every participant.
  • We shall also include support system structure which involves social work students, medical students and psychology students which will enable them to apply their acquired knowledge to the situation on the ground.

Funding

Due to the high cost of executing such program, we then recruit volunteers. We solicit for funds from corporate bodies, philanthropist and individuals.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that, the camp will be an impactful program for both the street children as well as the volunteers.
